Wedding is a life time memory for all even those who attend weddings. So everyone try to make the day really memorable and auspicious. The place of wedding dress if thought might seem to be the most unique and special on the day. The traditions and culture of the country has an important place in the selection of the wedding day. It is noticeable that, the wedding dress pattern of each country is different and even within countries it varies greatly.
Indian wedding dresses are quite different from the western patterns. Their styles are in connection to the traditions and beliefs of the nation. Indian wedding dresses are often very colorful and bright. The bride and the groom will be looking gorgeous on the day of wedding. It will be full of designs and embroidery works.
India is a country of diversities. There are styles in as many numbers as there are people in the nation. So it is not possible to generalize the wedding dress style of India. The pattern varies from east to west and north to south. Each religion and even communities have their own concepts of the wedding dresses. So Indian wedding dress have a wide collection of styles and patterns in itself.
According to Indian beliefs, white is the color of mourning. So the Indians won’t prefer white color often for their weddings. The widely chosen color of Indian wedding dress is red. For them, red is a color of good luck. The wedding dresses most commonly seen are saris or gaghra choli. There are people who choose shalwar chameez for weddings.
Indian wedding dresses often have embroidery works and bead works embedded in it. There are people who even choose to have gold and silver embedded in it. There will be glittering works that even symbolizes the stories and symbols of historical importance in the wedding dress. There can be thread works and sequences in the dress usually made of silk or satin fabrics.
Indian weddings are more expensive and colorful than the western style of formal weddings in church. Hence their style of dress for wedding is also more expensive. There are several varieties and they even go for designer wedding dresses to make themselves different from other brides and grooms. |
